I would have my friend purchase the Dell-Inspirion Laptop with Intel Pentium Processor. I personally have this computer and I am very happy with its performance. The reasons I LOVE my computer are:
1. It has 4 GB DDR2 SoDIMM memory for multitasking.
2. It has a 15.6″ high definition CCFL widescreen display.
3. The ATA Hard Drive offers ample storage (5400 rpm)
4. Built in 10/100 Ethernet LAN with RJ-45 connectors.
5. Weights only 6 lbs.
6. 7-1 digital media reader.
It is one of the top selling computers and it is priced at $549.99 which is middle of the road. I purchased my computer two years ago and it meets all of my needs. This price is from bestbuy.com and it was the same price 2 years ago.
